Although Donna sang some nice harmonies with Bobby during the Orpheum run of 76, she was at best, awful to mediocre when singing with the GD, but nice eye-candy. Her best contributions were with the JGB, with her and Maria Muldaur.

Imo, Keith was the real reason for her being part of the Dead, not her vocal ability.

If the 70's Donna sang for American Idol, she wouldn't get past square one, and that's the plain truth!

oh thats not true. Donna actually had quite a good voice, but in general the dead was a shitty band for her to be a part of. She wasn't really a good fit and thats obvious listening to certain tracks. I'll agree with the other poster that on songs like tomorrow is forever is where she can shine. Donna had a really good voice, she shines when she sings softly, and we mostly remember her for GSET and playin, where she screams.

Donna wasn't cut out to be a rock singer. I thought she excelled on country songs though, like Tomorrow is Forever.
